CANCER TREATMENT IN INDIA

Medical recommendations come from your qualified treating clinicians.

01

Why patients choose cancer treatment in India

Patients from Africa, the Middle East and beyond travel to India for cancer care because the major cancer centres bring surgical, medical and radiation oncologists together, and treatment can usually start within days of arrival.

Your case is normally discussed by a tumour board, a team of specialists who agree the plan together. Many centres in Delhi NCR offer robotic surgery, advanced radiation such as IMRT, IGRT and stereotactic radiotherapy, PET-CT scanning and bone marrow transplant units.

  • Surgery to remove tumours, including minimally invasive and robotic surgery
  • Chemotherapy, targeted therapy and immunotherapy

  • PET-CT and other scans to stage or restage the cancer

Choosing a cancer hospital and oncologist

Look for a hospital that treats many patients with your type of cancer, has a tumour board, and offers every part of your plan (surgery, chemotherapy and radiation) in one place. Ask who will lead your care and how follow-up will work once you are home.

Costs and length of stay

Costs depend on the cancer type, stage and treatment plan, so we don't quote a fixed price. Surgery may need two to four weeks in India; radiation runs for several weeks; chemotherapy is given in cycles, and some can continue at home. See our cancer treatment cost guide for what shapes the estimate.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Is cancer treatment in India good quality?⌄

Leading Indian cancer centres use the same treatment protocols, drugs and radiation technology as centres in the UK and USA, and many are JCI or NABH accredited. The right centre depends on your cancer type and stage.

Can I get a second opinion on my cancer diagnosis?⌄

Yes. As part of our free case review, Indian oncologists can review your reports and suggest a treatment plan.

Do I need a biopsy before travelling?⌄

Usually a biopsy report is needed for a reliable plan. If you don’t have one, the hospital can advise whether to do it at home or in India.

Can treatment continue at home?⌄

Sometimes. Your oncologist decides whether some cycles can safely continue with your local doctor.

How soon can treatment start?⌄

Once the hospital has reviewed your reports and you arrive, tests and treatment usually start within a few days.
