AYURVEDA IN KERALA

Ayurvedic treatment in Kerala

Kerala in southern India is the home of traditional Ayurveda. Orvica works with three Ayurveda centres in Kerala, by the sea at Nattika and Kovalam and on the Periyar river near Kochi, and arranges your travel, airport transfers and stay.

Medical recommendations come from your qualified treating clinicians.

01

What is Ayurveda?

Ayurveda is India’s traditional system of medicine, practised for thousands of years. Treatment combines herbal medicines, oil therapies, diet, yoga and rest, and is planned by an Ayurvedic doctor (BAMS) after a consultation.

Kerala Ayurveda is known for its residential programmes, usually lasting 7 to 28 days, in calm settings with daily treatments. Ayurveda is a wellness and supportive therapy. It does not replace treatment from your own doctor for serious illness, so keep taking prescribed medicines unless your doctor advises otherwise.

02

Programmes and therapies

Ayurveda centres in Kerala offer:

  • Panchakarma, a structured detoxification programme
  • Rejuvenation (Rasayana) programmes
  • Programmes for joint pain, back pain and arthritis
  • Stress management and sleep programmes
  • Weight management programmes
  • Yoga and meditation alongside treatment

Our Ayurveda centres in Kerala

Each centre has qualified Ayurvedic doctors who see you on arrival and plan your treatment. Your coordinator helps you choose the one that suits your goals, budget and length of stay.

  • The Nattika Beach Ayurveda Resort, Nattika, Thrissur: traditional villas in 16 acres of coconut groves on the Malabar coast. Personalised programmes including Panchakarma, Abhyanga and Shirodhara, daily yoga and Ayurvedic meals. NABH certified.
  • Rockholm at the Light House Beach, Kovalam, Thiruvananthapuram: a clifftop retreat above Lighthouse Beach with 22 sea-facing rooms and suites, Ayurveda therapies and daily yoga. A sister retreat of Nattika Beach, NABH certified, close to Thiruvananthapuram airport.
  • Elephant Pass Ayurveda & Yoga Retreat, Kodanad, near Kochi: a riverside retreat on the Periyar with standard rooms, deluxe rooms and cottages, a yoga hall and its own restaurant. Its Healing Journey packages of 3, 5 or 7 days include a doctor consultation, a daily Ayurveda treatment, daily yoga, vegetarian meals, sightseeing and airport pickup and drop at Kochi.

Longer programmes such as a full Panchakarma suit Nattika Beach and Rockholm; Elephant Pass suits shorter healing breaks combined with sightseeing in central Kerala.

04

Choosing an Ayurveda centre

Choose a centre where a qualified Ayurvedic doctor (BAMS or MD Ayurveda) sees you before and during treatment, and check what is included: consultations, therapies, medicines, meals and accommodation. Beach resorts suit longer, quieter programmes; a riverside retreat near Kochi suits a shorter stay with sightseeing.

05

How Orvica helps

Tell us your goals, health background and preferred dates. We share them with the centres that suit you, send you their recommended programme and a written quote, and arrange a video call with the Ayurvedic doctor on request. Once you choose, we explain which Indian visa suits your programme, book your transfers from Kochi or Thiruvananthapuram airport and stay in touch throughout. If you are also having treatment in Delhi NCR, we plan both parts of the trip together.

06

What to share before you book

Your coordinator confirms what the centre needs. Usually:

  • Your main health concerns and goals
  • Recent medical reports, if you have a health condition
  • A list of medicines you take
  • Your preferred dates and programme length
07

Costs and length of stay

Costs depend on the centre, the programme length and your room, and are confirmed in a written quote before you book. Most programmes include consultations, daily therapies, medicines and vegetarian meals. Panchakarma usually needs 14 to 21 days for the full benefit; short healing breaks of 3, 5 or 7 days are also available. The nearest international airports are Kochi (for Nattika Beach and Elephant Pass) and Thiruvananthapuram (for Rockholm, Kovalam).
