JCI ACCREDITATION

JCI-accredited hospitals in India

JCI accreditation is one of the best-known international marks of hospital quality. This guide explains what it means, how it compares with India’s NABH standard, and lists JCI-accredited hospitals in our Delhi NCR directory.

Medical recommendations come from your qualified treating clinicians.

01

What JCI accreditation means

Look beyond the name. For your condition, check:

  • JCI (Joint Commission International) assesses hospitals against international standards for patient safety and quality
  • Accreditation is renewed through regular surveys, usually every three years
  • NABH is India’s national standard, and many excellent hospitals hold NABH accreditation
  • Accreditation applies to the hospital, not to each doctor
  • The specialist’s experience with your condition matters as much as the badge
02

JCI or NABH: does it matter?

Both JCI and NABH assess safety, infection control, medication management and patient rights. Insurers and governments in some countries prefer JCI-accredited hospitals, so check whether your insurer or employer requires it. Otherwise, choose the hospital with the right specialists for your treatment.

Questions to ask

Ask these before you decide, and get the answers in writing:

  • Is your JCI accreditation current, and when was it last renewed?
  • Does it cover the department treating me?
  • Will my insurer accept treatment here?
  • What is your experience with my condition?
